Healing Session Methods

Trauma, Grief, Addiction, Chronic Pain… Life, Cope, Heal and Deal!

Healing does not look the same for everyone. Sometimes we need to talk; sometimes we need to move, breathe, or give our bodies a chance to let go of what they have been holding for too long. At Kailash Yoga Ashram, our healing sessions bring together different approaches that support the body, mind, and emotions in their own way. Depending on what you are going through and what kind of support you need, you can explore methods such as Trauma Healing, Yoga Therapy, Counselling, Yoga Massage, Myofascial Release Therapy, and Reiki Healing Therapy. Each session is offered with care and respect, giving you a quiet space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and begin working with what needs attention.

Trauma Healing

TRAUMA HEALING

Holistic approaches are key to healing trauma, which is beneath every form of dis-ease and discomfort. The Somatic “mind-body” connection is key. Traditional therapy engages the brain’s higher cognitive functions. This is useful, however, the parts of the brain that are active during and after trauma are not the thinking parts.

Somatics integrates the body, emotions, thinking and meaning making into the healing process. Through the body, we can access the brain regions involved in trauma, as well as the corresponding chemical and muscular responses. Without shifting the trauma that manifests in the physical body, people have a hard time healing. Holistic methods can release the trauma from the body, mind and spirit.

Yoga Therapy

YOGA THERAPY

Yoga Therapy, derived from the Yoga tradition of Patanjali and the Ayurvedic system of health, refers to the adaptation and application of Yoga techniques and practices to help individuals facing health challenges at any level manage their condition.

This includes reducing symptoms that can be reduced, managing those that cannot be reduced, rooting out causes wherever possible, improving functioning in daily life, and shifting attitude and perspective regarding life’s challenges.

COUNSELING – Adults and Teens

Holistic Counselling is an approach that helps clients heal by taking the whole person and their life experiences into account in assessment and treatment. In other words, where traditional counselling methods consider the psychological ramifications of issues and behaviours, holistic counselling assesses and treats from the mind, body, and spirit contexts, taking into consideration the entire person.

Massage Therapy

MASSAGE THERAPY

Massages are an ancient form of healing bodywork. The recipient wears comfortable clothing and either lies down or sits on a soft, thick massage mat. The practitioner guides the person through a series of postures while massaging the muscles and along the body’s energy lines and pressure points.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE THERAPY

Myofascial Release is a safe and effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle, slow pressure into the connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. This allows fascia to elongate. Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create these restrictions that can produce pain. A multitude of techniques, teaching proper body mechanics, movement, self-treatment, strengthening, flexibility, and postural and movement awareness, are used to effect a change.

Reiki Healing

REIKI HEALING THERAPY

Reiki feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. This technique reduces stress, promotes relaxation and healing. If one’s “life force energy” is low, we are more likely to get sick or feel stressed, and if it is high, we are more likely to be happy and healthy. Reiki treats the whole person, including body, emotions, mind and spirit, creating many beneficial effects.

Simple, natural and safe for spiritual healing and self-improvement. It has been beneficial and effective in helping treat every known illness and malady. When used alongside other medical or therapeutic techniques, Reiki helps relieve side effects and promote recovery.

Healing is often not about finding one perfect method. It is about finding the kind of support that feels right for you at that particular point in your life. Our healing sessions can be experienced on their own or as part of a deeper retreat at Kailash Yoga Ashram. If you feel you need more time to slow down, reflect, and work on yourself, our 5-Day, 6-Day, 7-Day, and 10-Day retreats offer the space to do just that. Along with Yoga, meditation, mindful practices, and nourishing food, you can include healing sessions according to your individual needs. Rather than rushing through the process, you get a few days to step away from your usual routine and give yourself the attention you may have been missing.
